I realized that I never got around to posting the best house of the day from the house tours during the CA Boom design show. Though this house actually wasn't on the tour - we heard through others on the tour that the Living Homes house was open that afternoon, so we stopped by their booth at the show and they gave us directions. Its pretty impressive. Living Homes are prefab houses that are also designed to be environmentally conscious. They're LEED certified, and not only are designed with features that conserve energy or take advantage of natural features, but they even generate their own energy. And if you want, you can get a feature that monitors the houses energy usage and generation that you can call up on screen at any time. Even without that, the house was just plain beautiful with a real warm side of modernism and a great use of the outdoor surroundings. All that in a prefab just makes it that much more impressive in my book. They had a catalog of homes/floor plans you could order, or you can get a custom one as well. If only it were that easy for all of us.
